My love affair with vintage continues. When my friend told me about a vintage fair in LA, of course I had to go! And while the outside of the building and the description of free mimosas and snacks looked super promising, it was a bit disappointing. It was slightly disappointing because of the size of the venue, and the prices some vendors were selling their goods at. But, even with these disappointing factors, I walked away with two beautiful vintage dresses (for a deal) and had a wonderful time sipping mimosas and catching up with my cousin. I truly feel that how you decide to handle a situation will determine whether you have a good time or not, and so I always try to walk-in with a positive attitude.

Quick side note on my dress. It is a true vintage dress I got on Etsy for about $40 (with shipping) and took to my tailor to get fitted. My tailor works absolute magic! The bottom half of the dress was originally huge on me and she made it nice and form-fitting! A quick reminder for my fellow vintage fashionistas: true vintage wiggle dresses has little to no stretch, so when getting it tailored don't get it too tight! Don't want to pop those seams!

Fall Dapper Day- Keepin' It Classy

Dress: Vintage, Belt: Vintage, Hat: Vintage, Purse: Vintage, Shoes: Urban Outfitters, Petticoat: Malcomodes So, finally posting about ACTUAL Fall Dapper Day! And my second Dapper Day was just as fun, if not more fun, than my first Dapper Day because I now knew what to expect. My friend and I knew what we wanted to do that day: take beautiful pictures and run around California Adventure! Last Dapper Day, I barely got to go to California Adventure but this time, I was able to full embrace it AND finally go to Cars Land! Before this I never wanted to wait in land, so I would skip it, but my friend insisted we get it as our first Fast Pass. And I loved it! While I don't like the Cars movies, and had to hold by victory rolls in place (vintage aesthetic struggle) I had such a blast when we were zooming around the track! I forgot how fun California Adventure is! I really hope to visit it again soon (hint hint *wink wink*).

Overall, the day was full of running into other beautifully dressed people, eating delicious food (including getting ice cream even though it was quite cold at night), and just enjoying the Disneyland way of life. The only sad part, was that the day got dark so early! While it was beautiful to watch the skyline, and watch the parade, I always like to stretch out my "day" as long as possible when at Disneyland. I love Disneyland and I love dressing up in vintage dresses so Dapper Day is a dream come true for me.

Quick side note, my dress is vintage and (I think) looks pretty fab, but can you believe I got it on Ebay for only $31!? I love shopping for vintage online because as long as you know your measurements and don't mind asking the seller some questions, you can get some seriously amazing deals. I actually have my Spring Dapper Day dress picked out and found it on Ebay! Don't knock it until you try it!

Fall Dapper Day Expo

One of the (many) things I love about Dapper Day Expo is that it gives me an excuse to dress up, straighten my hair, practice my pin-up hairdo's, and spend time with some of the swankiest people I have ever seen.

This was my second Dapper Day Expo and I do enjoy it. It gives me a few hours of walking around in some beautiful vintage clothes, mingle with vintage vendors, and maybe purchase a vintage item or two (including the earrings I'm wearing).

After wandering the Disney Hotel ball room my friend and I decided to have lunch in Downtown Disney, and I got to finally eat at the rain forest cafe! Funny story, the one and only time I was grounded it was the night of a friend's birthday party where we were all to suppose to go to the Rainforest Cafe. And because I was grounded, I never got to go, and for some reason in all my years I never went to Rainforest Cafe after that incident. But now I have finally gone and gotta say...it was ok. It was very pretty and decorated creatively, but the food was ok and kinda expensive. Anywhose...

Giant Hat says "I'm Busy"

This was a random day, doing random things. I didn't do much but walked around and decided to take pictures of my outfit; mostly because I loved my hat. I love giant hats that hide me from the sun (and can contain my hair) and this one fit the criteria to a T! It even had a saying on it, "I'm busy", which I was (busy eating, but still busy).

Plus, the hat went perfectly with my dress. When I was at Laforet in Harajuku my friends and I visited a small boutique where this dress was displayed and immediately caught my eye. I loved the vintage feel of the dress, the store shop workers so nice (and didn't even say anything when I made the mistake of forgetting to take off my shoes for the dressing room), and the dress actually fit! So, of course I had to get it. I expect to wear this dress a lot this summer. I hope everyone is having a nice summer, and handling the heat! TTFN, ta ta for now.

Japan Adventures- Studio Ghibli Spirited Me Away

I have lied again, I am creating a post that is dedicated to a single day...but it was such a magical day! I mean, I got to go to Studio Ghibli and Shinjuku Park all in one day, and even the rain could not bring me down.

My friends and I actually started the day in Shinjuku park where we were surronded my cherry blossoms. The whole area was drowning in them. There even was a beautiful carpeting of cherry blossoms on the ground. The only sad part was that because we came while it was raining a certain pathway was somewhat flooded so we couldn't walk that way. But even without seeing that portion of the park I was blown away by how beautiful everything was. And a bonus was that because it was raining there were barely any people wandering the park so we had it all to ourselves (almost).

Then it was a ride on the train to the Studio Ghibli Museum! And Oh! The Studio Ghibli Museum was just as magical as I always thought it would be. Everything, I mean everything, was based on a Studio Ghibli movie or art piece. Every small detail had something related to a film on it. The door handles, the lights, the windows, everything! And I loved it all! I wish I could have taken pictures of everything inside, but photography is not allowed and I totally understand why. I know I would have wanted a million pictures, so I can imagine everyone else also would have wanted a million pictures ruining the peaceful and magical effect of the museum. But I did get to take a picture with the robot from Laputa: Castle in the Sky! I completely and whole-heartedly recommend going to the Studio Ghibli Museum if you are in Japan! (HOWEVER, make sure to get your tickets ahead of time. My friends and I didn't realize you have to get tickets from a travel agent in the States and they only give out 100 a month. So, we missed our chance getting like that but luckily one of my friends had a friend living in Japan who got us tickets from Lawsons. I was so utterly grateful!)

After wandering the museum, my friends and I knew we had to stop and get a quick bite at the Straw Hat Cafe. The whole inside was decorated with little straw hats, and even the light shades were themed with little flying Kiki's! As I said they thought of every detail!

And quick side about my outfit. Since I knew I was going to the Studio Ghibli Museum, I knew I had to make a Kiki inspired outfit. Kiki was actually the first anime I ever saw growing up and I loved her and the movie. When I was younger, Princess Mononoke was actually my favorite Studio Ghibli movie, but as I have grown older I realize I identify with Kiki more. She starts off so sure of herself and then gets a little lost along the way, but at the end of the movie she find herself. I love that, and feel like I totally identify with Kiki. Sorry for the segway, back to the outfit...I was originally planning on making a purple dress, like Kiki, but decided on a skirt with a Kiki silhouette. And of course, I was going to make her giant bow, and looking back I actually wish I made it bigger! II hope my little spiel about Studio Ghibli was a tinge magical. Flower Power Dapper Day at Disneyland

Late posting, what's new? Can't help it, life gets in the way. Ce la vie.

So, this was my first Dapper Day and what a blast! Bonus, that it was also Bat Day (goth day)! When walking around the park you saw people in their best vintage wear and then people walking around in all black and flatform shoes. It was so fun to see a wide variety of fashion in the most magical place on earth. On top of all this fun fashion extravaganza, it had been forever since I had been to Disneyland and it was just as magical as I remember. And it was even more magical because I got to go with my friend who also loves Disney. And as you can see, I went a little crazy with picture-taking. Took soooo many pictures, I was like a kid in a candy store. Should I get a Disneypass and enjoy the aprk all year? Need help deciding.

Since it was Dapper Day, my friend and I also went to California adventures to take in the sites, grab a drink, and go to the Dapper Day meetup. The meetup was massive! I was surprised and how big it was, but loved seeing all the creativity people put into their outfits. Next Dapper Day I hope to make an outfit that is a Disneybound. Which character do you think I should do?

Note on my outfit, I actually picked up this dress at the Dapper Expo the day before on a whim, and totally fell in love. Even though I have to get some things altered on the dress, I still decided to wear it. And it fit the beautiful spring weather that found us that day. Plus, my friend also wore a floral vintage inspired dress, so I liked to think of us as the Flowers from Alice in Wonderland. Also, if you are planning to go to Dapper Day footwear is incredibly important! Luckily I thought ahead and decided to wear wedges, instead of the heels I was originally planning.
